

Lead by JAM exhibiting artist Casey Carney, participants in this workshop will be guided through a somatic expressive arts movement/drawing/imaginative writing workshop to explore personal and shared themes. The workshop is an introduction to the Tamalpa Institute Life/Art Process originated and developed for the past five decades by leading somatic expressive arts pioneers Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin in Marin, California.

Casey Carney (they/them) is an artist and educator who is engaged in poetry, photography, videography, drawing and dance. They have a passion for somatic expressive arts, and believe that the body holds an intrinsic power of healing through integrating movement awareness, life themes and artistic forms. Casey holds a M.A. in Dance Education, and a Level 1 Certification from Tamalpa Institute, founded by Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin, leading pioneers in the field of movement/dance education and therapy. Casey was the 2014-2016 Poet Laureate of Lake County, California, where they led numerous community workshops and events.
